5 February, Kathmandu. The 3rd Women’s Open National Taekwondo Championship 2077 is to be organized in Surkhet by the Nepal Taekwondo Association Women’s Empowerment Committee.
It was informed at a press conference on Wednesday that 1,500 players will participate in the tournament to be held on March 8 and 9. Athletes participating in the Asian and South Asian Games have been barred from competing in the competition, which is aimed at producing new players and honing their skills by providing a platform for Nepali women players. The competition will be played under the rules of World Taekwondo Federation and Nepal Taekwondo Association.
Nanda Basyal, a member of the National Sports Council, a member of the Nepal Taekwondo Association and a coordinator of the Women’s Empowerment Committee, said that the competition will be held at the covered hall of Surkhet, the capital of Karnali.
The first, second and third place winners of each category will receive Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 in cash. Similarly, the top three teams will receive Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 in cash. Similarly, the two best players of junior and senior education will receive Rs 25,000 each, according to a press release signed by coordinator Nanda Basyal.
